New Year Greetings With Flowers #MiracleGarden

Happy 2018

I had saved this post for New Year Greetings!

When I entered the Miracle garden, (Dubai) I asked myself: ‘am I dreaming?’ An incredible haven of tranquility, a fiesta of flowers, a riot of colors all around in astonishing shapes and sizes and an innovative display dazzled me!

Miracle Garden

As I was trying to brace myself, William Wordsworth’s lyrics from “The Daffodils” flashed across my mind “ten thousand I saw at a glance, tossing their heads in sprightly dance”… “I gazed and gazed but little thought, what wealth the show to me had brought…”

Miracle Garden

Actually this garden has 45 million blooming flowers and the captivating shapes in which they grow are amazing. I have seen Tulip gardens but their grandeur didn’t enrapture me as much as this one.

Miracle Garden

When I was looking up the options to visit this garden, I came across online booking of tours, which offered a five-hour trip to Global Village and Miracle Garden in $80.00 per person, which included hotel pick up and entrance fees. I thought we would be stuck up for five hours and since I was not very keen to visit Global Village, I chose to work it out myself.

Miracle Garden

We took a taxi from our hotel and reached the garden within half an hour. The entry ticket costs 30 AED per person. After spending an hour at the garden, admiring those who could create this wonder in the middle of a desert and marveling at the maintenance, we walked across the road to visit Butterfly Garden, which was a huge disappointment.

I would never recommend a visit to Butterfly Garden due to the exorbitantly priced ticket (60 AED per person) to enter and find a few butterflies, in an oppressive humid atmosphere. I think this so called Butterfly Garden is a misnomer! It should be called ‘Test your Patience at a high price.’ I bet nobody would enter!! The moment I entered, I wanted to rush out. It was disgusting!

I had clicked some pictures but didn’t find them worth sharing as there are hardly any butterflies to be seen!

Since the sun was about to set, we thought let’s visit Global Village too and capture the sunset there. So we took another taxi and reached there within minutes. The entry ticket to this place is just 15 AED.

Designed to attract tourists, this village, as the name suggests showcases the culture and wares of different countries through pavilions, which have been set up to sell their local products and seem to be doing a roaring business. There is too much to see…stroll around, watch the shows, take the rides, try global cuisine, shop the souvenirs. We spent an hour there and were in no mood to stay longer. We clicked some memorable pictures.

The whole trip cost us half the amount as compared to the online trip advisors, with the choice of how much time we wanted to spend at each place. Planning skills are indeed rewarding!

Thank you for reading this.

Wishing all my readers a Healthy, Happy and Peaceful 2018.

  1. When the New Year starts with colorful fireworks, let them light up your life like a candle in the night and may they color your year like a rainbow. Happy New Year!

  2. Prepackaged products generally tend to be cheaper but in your case it’s the other way around. Thanks for sharing this important information to save everyone’s money and time.

  3. So lovely to hear that you had such a great time at Global Village and Miracle Garden, and all planned by yourself too. Planning a trip by ourselves we get so much more freedom and linger how long we want. 45 million flowers is a lot of flowers at Miracle Garden, and from your photos all of the flowers look in full bloom and so vivid 🙂 Pity about the butterfly enclosure and maybe the place will be improved at some point down the track.

Happy New Year, Balroop. Wishing you well this 2018 and take care 🙂

    1. Mabel, I want to thank you for all the love and support you have extended to me. It doesn’t seem that we met online…you have become such a dear friend as if we know each other since ages! Your positive insights have endeared you so much in my heart. Love and hugs for all that. Wishing you a wonderful 2018 🙂 May all your dreams materialise in the new year.

      1. We have not met in real life, but it feels like we have been friends for so long. Your poetry and published books are very inspiring, and looking forward to seeing what you will be sharing with us this year. Take care and may 2018 be a good one for you 🙂

  4. Balroop, so much beauty! No wonder that you feel dazzled. 45 million species…..my mind cannot quite take it in.
Colours that shine and glow, shapes of all imaginations. And all this in the desert?
I wonder about who thought of this and how many people it takes to keep the gardens in this perfect shape.
No wonder you were in awe.
Have a wonderful year Balroop with many more adventures
    Miriam

    1. Pictures don’t do any justice to the actual scenario Annika…you know that so well! Thanks for your beautiful words. May this brightness glow around you each day in 2018. Love and hugs dear friend 🙂

    1. Oh yes, Jacqui…same thought struck me when I was looking at the flowers! A lot of hard work and insight goes into such a creation in the desert! 🙂

  6. Wow! This garden looks almost unreal, like something out of a fairy tale of Walt Disney movie! Can’t even begin to think what it must cost to supply it with enough water in this climate…

  7. Such exquisite beauty, Balroop! The photos alone are breathtaking. A gorgeous New Year gift. Thank you, my sweet friend. May you be blessed with joy, love, peace, laughter ❤

  8. I’m amazed at this bountiful beautiful garden! Thank you for sharing it with us with your excellent photos. I could have just sat in the middle of those gardens all day. With a good book too, of course. 🙂

  9. Though Dubai is not anywhere on my radar, it is good advice to eschew the Butterfly Garden, by the sound of it! This Miracle Garden, however, seemed well worth the time to explore. Lovely photos, amazing riots of color in the midst of the desert! Of course having been raised in California until I was 18, one does well to remember that its southern parts were once all desert, and look at what a little water can do! Glad you were able to enjoy your time away, Balroop. Many wondrous blessings in 2018! ❤

    1. Each time we visited India, we flew by Dubai, thinking it is a country meant for business till we decided to extend our lay off and found what a touristy paradise it is! It has many such wonders to explore! Thank you Bela for standing by to read and share your observations. 🙂

  10. Hi Balroop,

Sounds like you discovered the 8th Wonder of the World!

I’ve been to India only once on a family trip in 1985 and visited the Taj Mahal, Agra and Goa, my parents birth place.

It’s so nice and thoughtful of you to share the good and also the “not so good” in your story, so others don’t make the same mistake and waste their time and money only to be left disappointed.

Here’s wishing you all the best for the New Year.

    Cheers,

    Mark

    1. Hi Mark, Thank you for discovering Emotional Shadows in the maze of blogosphere and connecting with it so warmly. I appreciate it.
I am an ardent nature lover, that could be the reason of being so mesmerised by Miracle Garden…it seemed to be out of this world and that too in the middle of a desert!
I have seen The Taj in all its moods and the most appealing seems to be like a dream…when we saw it on a full moon night…those were the times when the entry was free and the surroundings were less clean. Intoxicated by the exuberance of youth and flying on the wings of arrogance, I didn’t record my thoughts at that time. The Taj has some special vibes, which touch you deep down the moment you set your eyes on it each time…some bells ring in your ears…that is what I remember when I think of my visits to it. 🙂
Thanks for the wishes and I too wish you a wonderful 2018.
