When morning mist allured us
And we sprinted to meet each other
To play summer games
When we were in no mood
To admire the pink sky
And sit for a while.
We, the children of the wild
No dreams could distract us
No fears touched us
Our only realm – the moor
Our only love – the games
Those were the days!
Days of ardent alacrity
When delight filled our hearts
And magic of wind was all around
When branches danced with us
Wind sang our favorite tunes
Birds watched in delight!
And now… we watch from our windows
Mother Nature has banished everyone
She doesn’t recognize even those who love her
She needs her own time, to rest
To rejuvenate
Another reminder: We live at her mercy.

Oh the line, ‘She doesn’t recognize even those who love her…’ love it. It’s like an answer to the question in my head as I look at the garden below, from my window, these days.
Isn’t it another validation that we are all connected? Some people refuse to see the reality! Thanks for sharing your thoughts Smitha 🤗
That’s the only good news in this epidemic- earth is healing itself.
So true! 😊❤️
This is beautiful, and atmospheric, Balroop–“We, the children of the wild”. That’s perfect.
Thanks Jacqui 😊
Another reminder. Yes! ❤
Thanks Bela 😊
Balroop, I do love these lines, they brings back so many happy and beautiful days.
For children to grow so free, learning from nature and loving it.
“We, the children of the wild

Our only realm – the moor”
Love the picture, it reminds of the Yorkshire moors.
Miriam
Yes, it’s a beautiful picture and quite evocative 😊Thanks for joining in the imaginative nostalgia.
If it reminds you of the Yorkshire moors, Miriam… it should 😉
Carefree youth growing wise with age if they listen…
Thanks for sharing your lovely thoughts Bette 🤗

Humans will never understand that they will never be able to tame nature. A master is a master, always. Our greed has led to extinction os many species from this planet. Humans want everything to themselves. It is payback time.
Great lines that convey the current situation.
Yes! A payback time and we must be calm and patient arv, as we have no choice! Hope you are doing well.
Exactly. All ok at the moment. Thanks for asking and care. Stay safe.
Beautiful lines. I am glad Nature showed who the boss is! 😀
Exactly! Thanks for chiming in Nanchi.
It is always nice to read you! 🙂
This is haunting and beautiful, Balroop. Indeed mother nature is sending us a message. She is resting. I like that interpretation.
Thank you Lisa, Mother Nature has had enough and keeps sending the reminders. This time she seems furious!
I think it is loud message with what the world is dealing with that something had to slow down. The world is on a whirlwind of progress. I like the idea of how it was when we were children, so innocent, just loving the outside because it is simply fun.
Nature knows how to balance, hope she is merciful. Thanks for coming over to read and share your lovely words Christine, welcome to Emotional Shadows. I am delighted to connect with you.
A most excellent reminder my friend.
We’ve been placed in the corner as the earth heals ❤
It’s better to watch from the corners than get sucked in by her fury. Stay safe dear Deb.
Exactly!
Beautiful Balroop! I’m looking for those pink skies.
Just a little patience Denise. 🙂
You captured the wonder and innocence of youth so beautifully, Balroop. The flip the current situation made me sad. What a time for the world. Only Mother Nature seems to be enjoying it.
Mother Nature seems to show a mirror to the arrogance of human beings…hope we all listen to her ultimatum. Thank you Diana, time to complete our WIP. 🙂
Yes, ‘those were the days.’ I think about them often, now. I also try not to think about them since I don’t know whether they will ever return. I also do feel and sense Mother Nature is resting and rejuvenating right now. Wow, your words are beautiful, Balroop, and a true portrayal of our present moment.
Moments matter Erica, as the most cherished ones get etched in the mind, to be savored whenever we feel free and cheerful. We would re-live them when we look at our grandchildren. Thank you for your lovely words.
I think we are all feeling Nature’s touch with a little more consciousness at the moment…which may be no bad thing. Both those who have revelled in our part in her life and those who have closed their eyes and hearts to her over the years.
Isn’t it heartening to note that more people are feeling the touch turning into grip and have been given so much of free time to ponder? Never would they complain about “no time to stand and stare” or turn a blind eye to the love that Mother Nature showers!
It is indeed, Balroop…and I hope we can all learn from this time.
A beautiful poem that makes you think.
Thanks Robbie.
Beautiful 💖
Thanks!
My pleasure!
It’s beautiful Balroop! Your words of wisdom act like analgesic, capturing the essence of the ongoing season!!
Thanks Daisy, I am delighted to hear that. 😊
An excellent reflection of Nature and our freedoms which now have been restricted… But Mother Nature is breathing in her own cleaner air once again as she takes a break from Humans humdrum lives… As she watches, as we take our own inner journeying into uncharted seclusion of discovering our inner selves.. As we reconnect with what is important in our lives..
Beautiful Balroop.. ❤
