Gratitude and Gifts

Gratitude

                                                Inundated by friendly mail
I sat, staring at the gale
                                     That whooshed through your words
                                            It empowered my thoughts
                                             And impelled me to soar

Its time to express my gratitude
                                        For the inspiration, the poetry,
                                          The reflections you shared
Even those who just clicked ‘like’
                                        Filled my heart with delight.

                                               As the curtain falls
                                         On National Poetry Month
I gift two eBooks, as promised
To those who spoke in verses
                                   While sharing their deliberations

                                            Only a few ventured
                                         Making my decision easy
My gifts go to Miriam and Pamela
Pam surprised me with her knack
Of creating magic on the track.

  1. Dear Balroop, what a wonderful surprise. With pleasure I read your warm and beautiful poem and at the end
find I have won an e-book written by yourself. Thank you so very much, it is a wonderful surprise.

I have no twitter account but obviously an e-mail one.

    Thank you Balroop
    Miriam

    1. Miriam, I like your poetry, hope you would like my debut book and share your thoughts about it. Many thanks for being a part of celebrations…only a poet can have that much patience to stand by for full month. Love and hugs and please check your mail. 🙂

  2. Congratulations to Pam and Miriam on their win! 😀 Writing prose comments comes easy to me … not so with verse – well done to them both!

Balroop, your blog has been a wonderful celebration to poetry this month … highlighting the depths and creative skill of this craft, touching us to the core, always leaving me deep in thought as my emotions entered a whirlwind. Thank you so much for sharing! Xx

    1. Thank you so much for such beautiful words of encouragement, I am feeling blessed with the support of so many friends…this blogosphere is a wonderful place! I feel you underestimate yourself Annika. Your lyrical prose reflects a poet in you! Your appreciation of poetry reiterates the fact that you like to shove aside. 🙂 I am sure you would recognise this aspect of your muse soon. Love and hugs.

      1. Thank you so much, Balroop for your words here … they mean a lot and give me a huge confidence boost … to hear this from a poet like yourself. Okay, I will try to give wings to my poetic muse and not repress it … see what happens. 😀❤️

  3. What a wonderful image and poem, Balroop. The Gratitude lines flow so seamlessly into each other and you colour themed it so well too 🙂 Congrats to the winners, and you also wrote them so seamlessly in the poem. It’s amazing how a Like or a comment can mean the world to us here in the blog world. A little support goes a long way. As you wrote at the start of the poem, empowering your inner thoughts and then inspiring you to express them outside and outloud. It’s not an easy thing to do, writing on our own. But it needs to be done mostly in solitary. But sharing it, often we need that extra push to put it out there 🙂

    1. I agree with you dear Mabel…a little push, a word of appreciation inspires us to touch the horizon though our reach may not be that big! Your reflections take me back to those days when I didn’t call myself a poet, when I was surrounded by the mist of doubt, when I would write a few lines and hide them even from my closest friends and family members…till I was told I had to edit college magazine! You can never imagine my elation…I was standing by the staircase when I got this news and I wanted to fly down, in one step to announce it to the world! Achievements at a young age mean so much!!
Many thanks for liking my poem and the color scheme. Love the way you have evoked my thoughts, taking me back in time. Stay blessed!

  4. It’s not even 6:30 a.m. in my Monday world, and I find that I’m celebrating a gift that goes beyond words. Well, it IS a gift of poetic words by a poetic and beautiful poet and prose-maker who so many of us in this blogosphere admire. THANK YOU, Balroop, for your presence here in our universe; for your courageous, thought-provoking, and at the same time, lyrical poetry; and for your contest in which Miriam and I are lucky winters – recipients of one of your books of poems. A Monday morning well worth waking up to! 🙂

Only a few readers pay attention to such small details as you do and therefore the award goes to the most deserving.
