#TankaTuesday #Summer

Diablo hills from my window

My hazy window
blurred by mist of memories
and motley motifs
fails to inspire somber muse
even bird songs sound mournful.

***

fragrance of summer,
dusk in the garden beckons
I hear your whispers:
yonder is the light – go, go
we’ll meet at the horizon.

***

blazing summer sun
hammers on velvety grass
smoldering swiftly
Diablo hills look ashen
just like my afflicted heart.

  1. So poignant, the calls of your beloved. The series works so well together. The ominous hills in the distance really help to create a shadowed atmosphere.

  2. Such a gulf of sadness and pain here’s Balroop . Don’t answer the call to the devil hills yet . Look for the hidden beauty, carry your loved one in your heart. …The sun is going to rise in you again. 💜

  3. Such a beautifully written poem – about a sadness locked in the heart. Sending love, Balroop. ❤️

  4. I liked the metaphor ‘mist of memories’ and the alliteration, ‘motley motifs’ in the first poem. The feeling of grief and the attempt to break through it comes across in all three poems. I found this line poignantly melodious – yonder is the light – go, go /we’ll meet at the horizon.
    Hugs to you, Balroop ji.

  5. These, all three, capture both the view and your heart. The middle one made me tear up. Your poetry improves with wisdom and it reads as though your muse is somewhere close by, Balroop. Sending love to you as always. Hugs.

  6. Balroop, keep writing, my friend! Your poems are gems, beautiful, profound and they reach straight into my heart. Such eloquence in the midst of your overwhelming grief; May writing help even just a little. Xx ❤️
